Man Jailed For Robbing Manchester United Striker Wayne Rooney’s House While He Was On The Pitch (See Details)



An ex-serviceman who tried to break in to Wayne Rooney’s home while he was playing in his testimonial match at Old Trafford has been jailed.




Robert McNamara, 24, of Scarborough, had confessed at Chester Crown Court to endeavoring to enter as a trespasser with expectation to take.

The alert at the footballer's £6m property in Prestbury, Cheshire, was activated on 3 August, the court listened.

McNamara was sentenced to two years and eight months.

Rooney, his better half, Coleen, and their three children, Kai, Klay and Kit, were going to the philanthropy tribute amusement against his first club Everton when the break-in offer occurred.

In a casualty affect explanation read in court, Mrs Rooney said the occurrence had brought about "restless evenings" and had made her dread for the wellbeing of their three kids while they played in the garden.

McNamara, of Newby Farm Crescent, Scalby, was captured six days after he attempted to soften up and conceded at Chester Crown Court in October.

CCTV demonstrated him strolling around the grounds, with his face secured by a balaclava, and attempting an entryway handle, setting off a border caution.

Police found a rucksack containing link ties, a head burn and a balaclava which had McNamara's DNA on it.

A moment rucksack found in his home contained a ski cover with dark tape over it which the court heard could have been utilized as a blindfold.
