A tragedy hit the Ekiti State Police Command on Thursday as robbers killed a policeman, identified simply as Inspector Gada, and injured another cop called Sergeant Sunday.
It was learnt that the criminals got away with a police van in the theft, which occurred in Ilupeju, in the Oye Local Government Area of the state.An inhabitant, who argued not to be named, said, "I think the policemen were coming back from a watch in the Itapa territory and got to a checkpoint amongst Ilupeju and Oye, before the place of an unmistakable government official in this state, Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, when the looters, who had obviously laid a snare for them, swooped on them and sprinkled shots on the policemen.
"When the looters were through with the attack, the group pioneer, who we know as Inspector Gada, had been killed, while Sergeant Sunday was truly harmed and hurried to a healing facility. The episode happened at around 5am."
The occupant included that the looters got away in the policemen's watch van.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Alberto Adeyemi, while affirming the assault, said a policeman was executed while another was genuinely harmed and "has been hurried to the Federal Medical Hospital in Ido, in the Ido-Osi Local Government Area of the state.

It will be reviewed that the police order lost its paymaster, Idowu Taiwo, on Monday.
