EFCC arraigns ex-Ebonyi council chair, 2 others over alleged N25m fraud


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, charged a previous Coordinator of Afikpo South Local Government Development Center of Ebonyi State, Ugwuocha Okoroafor, before Justice E.A. Ngene of the state High Court, Afikpo, on a 15-check charge of trick and taking of open assets totalling over N25,000,000.00.
Likewise charged with him were his treasurer, Christian Chukwu Owo, and the managerial officer, Mrs. Anne Eke Agwu Okoroafor and his claimed assistants were said to have at different times, somewhere around 2013 and 2015, raised vouchers for installments as far as anyone knows for contract grants, pay rates and freedom day festivities in the names of staff of the chamber, who denied getting such subsidizes.
