Kaduna Lecturer Detained For Alleged ‘Hate Speech’ Released
A former lecturer of Kaduna State University who is on trial for alleged hate speech, has been released from prison.
John Danfulani, initially captured in January, was remanded in jails two weeks back by a High Court in Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital.
"Driving home. My 13 days difficulty in Kaduna jail finished a few minutes ago.Thanking friends for their support," Mr. Danfulani posted on Twitter Monday evening.
Mr. Danfulani was suspended from the college before being given over to the law authorization for indictment in the wake of posting what commanding voices in the state considered a loathe discourse on the web.
The announcement, which Mr. Danfulani posted on his Facebook page in December 28, railed against the contemporary culture in Northern Nigeria.
The educationist said Northern Nigeria is in charge of the boundless destitution of the general population there.
He was summoned before a Kaduna State High Court on October 27 and was hence remanded in jails. His legal advisor secured his discharge from guardianship this evening.
