Ronaldo marked for the Old Trafford club five days after the fact and went ahead to put in six years at the club, winning the Champions League and three group titles.
"The main amusement that I played against Manchester United was a mind boggling diversion," he told Sky Sports.
"It was the ideal night, the ideal night.
"After the amusement some of my partners said: 'Tune in, will go to Manchester, believe me!'
"Sir Alex Ferguson was there, and [they said] he needs to talk with you. I go to the changing area, he acquainted me with the players.
"For me, I was a tiny bit timid. What's more, Sir Alex Ferguson said to me: 'Tune in, I need you now.'
"Everything came so quick, and two days after I address the mentor and they take me to England, and I was in Manchester, and I marked."
Ronaldo left United for Real Madrid in 2009 and on Monday, marked a five-year contract expansion with the La Liga goliaths.
